18th Reason I LOVE Being Married2aGeek – Disneyland

When Eric and I went to Disneyland on 3/1/2014 and it was quite the trip. First of all, it was a last minute decision. A couple weeks prior we decided to just go, we wanted a vacation. It was before many schools would be on Spring Break, and they had a decent deal going on so it seemed like the right time. We had also talked about doing a fun vacation before we had children. So we both got time off for a great 5 days – Saturday through Wednesday. When we got in the car at our house to start the drive Eric turned on Disney music. He had made me a mix of Disney songs to listen to on the way. He really is thoughtful and appreciates my love for all things Disney.

Once we got to the hotel, the Disneyland Hotel, (yes we chose there!) we were getting settled and checking out all of the little details in the room. The hotel was very cute! Eric was using the restroom and when he came out I told him I needed to tell him something. I told him that someone else really wanted to come with us to Disneyland and didn’t want to wait until they were older. He then saw a red Mickey Mouse onsie and a positive pregnancy test. My favorite line… “So you have been using tampons for no reason? Or faking it?” HAHA I am good 🙂

*I was afraid that Eric would be upset that I waited until we got to Disneyland to tell him. I had found out I was pregnant the previous week on Wednesday I believe. On the drive to California I kept thinking he might be upset with me because we could have cancelled our trip since I knew about the pregnancy beforehand. By the way you have no idea how hard it is to keep a secret for a few days, and then sit in a car for hours and not spill the news!*

He was very happy. I was so happy to have let the secret out. It was a long couple of days with such a huge secret. The rest of our trip was fantastic. We has a lot of fun, the weather was nice for the most part, and I got to go to one of my favorite vacation spots with my growing family.

And this my friends is the Reason #18 I absolutely LOVE being Married2aGeek – Chandler, Disneyland, and personalized playlists. ❤

Chandler – 8 Months Old

I love you through and through… I love your happy side, your sad side, your silly side, your mad side…

I love you through and through… yesterday, today, and tomorrow too.  (Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak)

Here is what Chandler was up to this month:

– Walking Daddy out to his car in the mornings and waving “bye-bye”

– Going to Top Golf for Father’s Day with Mommy, Daddy, Grandpa and Mimi

– Swimming

– Reading books with Mommy (we are also still doing the BofM365 at bedtime)

– Loving bath time

– Chasing the cat around the house

– Giving open mouth Kisses *Muah!

– Attempting to walk along the couch

– Spending a week a Grandpa and Grandma’s house with Mommy for Grandma’s birthday and the 4th of July

– Getting his 4th tooth while at Grandpa and Grandma’s. This made for a grumpy/feverish little boy for a couple days.

– Copying and Mimicking more and more daily

– Drinking out of a straw

– So much more!!

Daddy sure missed you when we were gone for a  week. You two were so happy to see each other. I love watching Daddy and you play and interact.

He would stand up all day if he could

Happy 8 months little one. Mommy loves you so much! xoxxo

16th Reason I LOVE Being Married2aGeek

I’m so glad when daddy comes home,

Glad as I can be;

Clap my hands and shout for joy,

Then climb upon his knee,

Put my arms around his neck,

Hug him tight like this,

Pat his cheeks, then give him what?

A great big kiss.

– (Children’s Songbook)

If our son, Chandler could talk I know he would sing that song to his Daddy. He is always so happy to see Daddy get home from work! Since Father’s Day was yesterday it just seems fitting that reason #16 I absolutely LOVE being Married2aGeek is that he is an amazing Father. I know this isn’t a geeky reason but it is so important to me and makes me love him more and more daily.

Now here is the only Geeky part about this post. When deciding what I wanted to do for Eric, I decided to get him the complete Star Wars Saga since he had previously mentioned that he wanted to watch those with Chandler when he is older. I also decided to get him and Chandler matching shirts (maybe a bit cheesy, oh well). Don’t laugh but I had to research to make sure that Luke Skywalker was a Jedi and the relationship between him and Darth Vadar. I haven’t watched Star Wars completely and I suppose I will have to give it a chance.

Nightly Reading with Chandler

Since the first of January, I have been reading the Book of Mormon. On Instagram (and other social sites) there is the “BofM365” postings. These daily postings include reading assignments that will enable you to read the entire Book of Mormon in a year. Every evening when I lay down with Chandler to feed him before bedtime I turn on the assigned reading on my phone. It is an easy habit I am developing and the daily readings aren’t too long so it is manageable. Hopefully this is a habit we can keep up for years to come.

Fevers Are No Fun

I woke up in the middle of the night to my baby moaning and it is definitely different than waking up to him trying to find something to eat. It was scary and broke my heart. Later that day my older brother, Cory and I were talking and I told him that I knew Chandler would be ok, but it is hard to see him that way and not be able to help him. He replied with, “Even when they are older you will still feel that way.” The love I have for Chandler continues to amaze me and I am sure it will continue to grow as he grows.

Eric, Chandler, and I were staying with my parents for the weekend. We were planning on going to church Sunday with the family. Harlo and Chandler were both going to be blessed at church. In the middle of the night Chandler woke me up and he was so warm and just moaned. I stayed up all night with him, it was hard. I was sad, tired, and frustrated that I couldn’t comfort him and take away his pain. I can not imagine how it must feel to experience a fever for the first time. Eric went up to my sister, Rachel’s house around 5:30 am and got a thermometer. Once the fever was confirmed, Eric and I decided to stay at my parents house with Chandler while the rest of the family went to church.

We stayed over for lunch then left for the three hour ride back home. I was worried it would be a horrible trip. But Chandler thankfully slept most of the time. (I even got to enjoy another Red Licorice Eegee. Seriously, that flavor is amazing! Hopefully it will come out again next year!)

Delicious!

Monday, Eric went to work and thought he was coming down with whatever Chandler had. I spend the day holding Chandler and cuddling him. I remember him giving me a little smile and it making my day. Tuesday, Eric and Chandler where both home sick. Eric with a fever, Chandler with a cough and trying to recuperate.

The only good thing that comes from sickness is cuddles <3

The only good thing that comes from sickness is cuddles ❤

Wednesday is here and they both seem to be a little bit better than yesterday. The night was rough for Chandler with his cough. As I was half asleep holding him upright so he could breathe a little better he grabbed my finger tightly. It is worth it!

This afternoon my boys are sleeping and I am grateful for them in my life. I love them so much. (Yes Eric, I love you!!)  I hate seeing them sick and I pray that this sickness leaves our house as soon as possible.

Sickness Sucks!

CHANDLER – 3 Months Old

Yesterday after Church, Chandler was being my little model. It is amazing how his plaid collared shirt makes him look so much older than I want him to be! He is just about three months old and has turned my world upside down. Going from working 45-50 hours a week to a stay at home mom is a bit of a lifestyle shock but I am so happy I get the opportunity to stay home with him. I love cuddling, seeing his smile, knowing I can comfort him, and watching him discover life every day.

Lunch Time Happiness

Eric came home for lunch today and Chandler was so happy. It truly makes my heart happy to see how much love Eric has for his son, Chandler. I can not believe Chandler is almost 3 months old! Where has the time gone?
